New Company, York Stadium Limited, will shortly be submitting a planning application for major changes to be undertaken to the current F1 Racing Kart site which is adjacent to the proposed new Community Stadium at Monks Cross.
This re-development is complimentary to the proposed Community Stadium, and will add significantly to the leisure attractions at Monks Cross to further support the Council’s exciting plans for the area and the Football and Rugby Clubs which are so important to York.
"We have been at the JMD Raceway since 1997 and significant changes have happened at Monks Cross during that time. Being a long established York business we believe we have contributed to the City's attractiveness and now plan to improve what we can offer to the local community and visitors alike.
The installation of a number of high quality indoor 3G football pitches will offer a new and exciting facility to York, enabling their use during even the worst of weathers. This will also include a number of junior pitches for use by youngsters under 8 to help meet the ever growing demand for high quality and safe facilities.
At the same time we will be able to expand and improve the current race track, as well as introducing a permanent junior track for our popular F1 Fun sessions.
We are looking to offer a truly unique experience so that customers feel they are really part of the 'Stadium' in whichever sport they are undertaking. By using the latest technology for the 3G surfaces, our pitches will also be suitable for rugby”.
